The Workplace Relations Commission has intervened in the Dublin Bus dispute, calling all sides to discussions tomorrow afternoon.
The Transport Minister Shane Ross says both sides now need to be given space to formulate an agreement that is fair and workable for all.
The unions involved say they hope the company is prepared to engage in meaningful talks so the pending strikes this week can be averted.
Six days of strike action have already taken place - further stoppages are planned for Tuesday and Wednesday as well as 11 more days in October.
