Ministers will this morning agree on a major economic blueprint for the rest of the decade.

The cabinet meeting in Government Buildings this morning to sign off on a new Medium-Term Economic Strategy.

The plan's likely to give a sense of what might be included in the first Budgets after Ireland leaves the bailout.

The Troika is leaving this weekend - but that doesn't mean the tough economic decisions are over.

Although the bailout ends this Sunday, under the Fiscal Compact Ireland needs to keep making important budget changes so it can balance the budget by the year 2020.

This morning ministers will put the finishing touches to a plan that will dictate the general shape of the Budgets that get us to that target.

They're likely to outline around another four-and-a-half billion euro of austerity measures that will be imposed over the next two years.

The government believes it has a better chance of borrowing from outside investors if it can convince them it has a long-term vision for how to manage the country once the Troika have left.

The cabinet meeting comes as a new IPSOS /MRBI poll indicates there's been a significant increase in support for the coalition parties.

The results published in todays Irish Times show that since last September Fine Gael support has increased by 4 points to 30% and Labour has gained 3 points to 9%.

Satisfaction with the government has also increased

FF remain unchanged at 22 % while SF and independents have seen declines of 2 and 5 points
