The cabinet is expected to discuss the options available for reviving the stalled inquiry into IBRC this morning.

It's also set to discuss the national security situation in the wake of last Friday's attacks in Paris.

Frances Fitzgerald will brief her colleagues on the current security situation, and the threats posed to the public, following the Paris atrocities.

However no major decisions in that area are likely until after the Garda Commissioner delivers a report on the current threats and what may be needed to stop them.

Therefore the two biggest talking points will be the interim reports from two different Commissions of Investigation.

Justice Nial Fennelly has submitted another interim report into illegal taping at Garda stations, which is set to ask for an extended deadline.

And Justice Brian Cregan has also submitted his interim report on his inquiries into IBRC, and the legal problems they have encountered.

But a senior source has indicated that the government is NOT likely to make any decision on fixing those problems - giving the attorney general more time to consider her options.
