Conor McGregor has given his backing to a petition calling for his face to be put on €1 coins.
The UFC star has tweeted his support, saying it would be a "true honour" for him to be "immortalised" on legal tender:
It would be a true honour for me to be immortalised on the €1 coin! Thank you to my fans for the petition!Let's go Oireachtas! Vote YES :-)

It comes as the Oireachtas petitions committee meets this afternoon - to discuss, among other issues, a call to put the UFC star's face on the €1 coin.
The petition was filed just days after the Crumlin fighter claimed the UFC's Featherweight title - but the plan can only go ahead with the banking of every other Eurozone country.
The debate comes as the UFC confirms McGregor will fight for its Lightweight title in March - a fight which could make the Dubliner the first fighter in UFC history to hold simultaneous titles in more than one division.
