Calls for Taoiseach's resignation after Fennelly Commission report

Ireland's highest-ranking Garda resigned as a direct result of Enda Kenny's decision to send a top civil servant to visit him at his home.

That's the finding of the Fennelly Commission, which says the decision to send a civil servant to Martin Callinan's home was the "immediate catalyst" for his sudden resignation last year.

But the report finds Mr Callinan resigned of his own accord - and Enda Kenny did not intend to sack him, or force him to quit.

Speaking on RTE News this evening, Enda Kenny said he had been cleared of the most serious charges against him

Sinn Féin says the Taoiseach and Attorney General should resign.

The party's Aengus O'Snodaigh also wants the Dáil recalled next week:

Fianna Fáil says it won't rule out a motion of no confidence in Enda Kenny once it has studied the full report.
