Canadian to appear at Banking Inquiry

The second day of the public hearings of the banking inquiry takes place later.

Former Canadian civil servant Rob Wright is due to give evidence.

He wrote a report suggesting Government's ignored warning signs about the banking crisis because there was too much public pressure to raise revenue and spend on services.

Yesterday expert Peter Nyberg told the inquiry he did not believe anything new would be learned from this inquiry compared to what he found in a report in 2011.

The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has pledged to raise with ECB President Mario Draghi today at the European summit in Brussels the bank's decision not to come and answer questions at the inquiry.
