The Central Bank are being called on NOT to proceed with their plans to introduce strict new mortgage lending rules.

Under the proposals, househunters would have to save a 20 per cent deposit of the value of the home before they can be granted a mortgage.

Fine Gael MEP Brian Hayes is questioning the logic of the proposals.
