Twitter has announced it's making changes to its 140 character limit.
The changes - which had been speculated - will see media attachments - such a photos and videos - no longer counted towards the limit.
Neither will mentions.
In the coming months, we're introducing new ways for you to express even more with a Tweet: https://t.co/l1sWRvXWqr pic.twitter.com/zzhWpRcABs

The changes will only apply to media uploaded directly to Twitter - so links to your Instagram dessert will count.
People will also be able to retweet and quote tweet themselves so they can resurface older content.
It's hoped the changes will make conversations faster and more intuitive and will come on stream over the coming months.
