Charity funds top up scandal is V.damaging - Ross

It's claimed there are more charities using fundraising money to top up the salaries of senior staff.

It emerged yesterday that the Central Remedial Clinic used money raised by the Friends and Supporters of the Remedial Clinic to top up salaries.

The organisation's then Chief Executive Paul Kiely was paid a salary of almost 107 thousand euro - this was supplemented by the clinic with 136 thousand euro.

Independent TD Shane Ross of the Public Accounts Committee says more charities are likely to admit to doing the same thing - and it will have a very damaging effect:
