Syria's President says claims that he was behind a deadly gas attack targeting his own people is "100 percent fabrication".

He has spoken for the first time about the allegations, saying his army has already given up chemical weapons.

The US still insists Assad was behind the attack, and launched a missile strike on a Syrian airbase in response.
