An emergency meeting is being held with staff at Console today, as it's new CEO claims the charity may have to be wound up immediately.

The Irish Examiner reports that interim CEO David Hall says the charity's services may have to stop, because of the alleged government failure to solve its financial crisis.

There are reports that workers are owed hundreds of thousands of euros in pay, following controversy over payments involving its former CEO Paul Kelly.

David Hall reportedly told government officials last night that unless a solution is provided to the crisis, he could be left with no option but to wind up the services of the charity.

Former CEO Paul Kelly and his wife have a High Court order preventing them from accessing Console's bank accounts, after they were accused of spending huge sums on foreign holidays and luxury goods.

The Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement has launched a probe into the claims.
