US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has condemned the killing of British Labour MP Jo Cox.

Mrs Clinton says she's "horrified by the assassination" - and that her "thoughts and prayers are with her friends, her family, and the British people."

The mother of two was attacked in Birstall in her West Yorkshire constituency after holding an advice surgery.

A 52-year-old man - named locally as Tommy Mair - was arrested and remains in Police custody this morning.
