Hillary Clinton says she's on the brink of an "historic, unprecedented moment" after reports she's clinched the Democratic Party nomination for US president.

AP says she's now reached the number of delegates she needs to make her the first ever female nominee for a major US party.

However her Democratic rival Bernie Sanders has refused to concede yet.
