The clock has stopped on the jury's deliberations in the Graham Dwyer murder trial.

Due to an oversight in his charge yesterday the judge has brought the jurors back to address evidence of Elaine O'Hara's psychiatric condition.

Mr Dwyer, an architect from Kerrymount Close, Foxrock denies killing the childcare worker at Killakee in Dublin in August 2012.

Mr Justice Tony Hunt has told the jury he shifted up a gear too quickly in his charge yesterday and forgot to recap some of the evidence.

He said suicide is an issue in the case and he's now going through the testimony of retired psychiatrist Dr Matt Murphy who treated Elaine O'Hara right up to her discharge from St Edmondsbury's on the day of her disappearance.

The judge has also told the jury that circumstantial evidence can prove things beyond reasonable doubt – it's not a matter of mathematical certainty

What all this means is that the jury will begin their deliberations afresh this afternoon.
