A gunman who killed 12 people in a cinema during a midnight screening of a Batman film in Colorado 3 years ago has been spared the death penalty.
James Holmes will spend the rest of his life in prison after jurors failed to agree if he should be sentenced to death.
He was convicted last month of multiple counts of murder and attempted murder over the shootings.
