Communities along the Shannon are on high alert for more flooding this evening with the River set to peak later.

Around 50 homes across the country have had to be evacuated - while more than 220 members of the Defence Forces have been deployed over the past 24 hours.

Corbally in Limerick City was one of the worst affected areas - with residents saying they’ve never witnessed flooding of this scale before.
