Almost half of all commuters face longer journey times than they did a year ago.

A new AA survey of over 6,500 drivers shows 30 percent spend more time in their cars than they did 12 months ago.

The survey also found there's a growing reliance on the private car, with more than 20% saying they'd be more likely to drive than they would a year ago.

The study found 35% blame a lack of reliable public transport for leaving them reliant on a car to get to work.
