Opposition parties are calling on the Government to raise today's radiation alert at Sellafield with the UK authorities.
Emergency procedures were put in place at the nuclear plant in Cumbria over raised radioactive levels.
Fianna Fail and Sinn Fein say the Energy Minister should clarify the incident with his counterparts in Westminster.
Operators of Sellafield say there was no danger to the public or staff and blamed the alert on natural radiation.
The incident was reported to the International Atomic Energy Agency.
