A construction company has been fined €250,000 in relation to a fatal wall collapse at a retail store in Longford in 2013.

The fine was imposed on Vincent Ruane Construction at Longford Circuit Criminal Court today.

The company had pleaded guilty to breach of health and safety regulations.

Patrick Gaffney and Sean Mulleady were killed when a wall collapsed at the Connacht Gold store in Longford Town in January 2013.

A Health and Safety Authority investigation found that failures on the part of the construction company led to the collapse.
