A consultant in emergency medicine has described the treatment of a 101 year old woman at Tallaght hospital as an 'unforgiveable' 'human rights abuse'.
A spokesperson for Tallaght Hospital has conceded it's totally unacceptable that the woman was left on a trolley for 26 hours at the Hospital's Emergency Department this week.
The woman, who has a history of heart attack and other health problems, was brought to the hospital on Monday.
Meanwhile The HSE has launched an inquiry into an incident at Loughlinstown Hospital in Co Dublin in which an elderly woman with Alzheimers died - two days after she was attacked by a fellow patient.
