Contingency plans are being prepared in case ongoing talks fail to prevent this week's unprecedented Garda strikes.

The Garda Representative Association is set to meet officials from the Justice Department later today.

The Association of Sergeants and Inspectors - which has been locked in talks with officials over the weekend - has accused the Government of circulating mis-information during their discussions at the Workplace Relations Commission.

Meanwhile senior management at Garda HQ are still examining their options in the event that more than 12,000 Gardai take industrial action on Friday.
