The HSE says contingency plans are in place to ensure sick babies have a supply of intravenous food this weekend.

It's understood the company who provides the paediatric and neonatal specialist feeds is no longer able to fulfil the supply on weekends.

The food is given to youngsters who are unable to eat due to medical and surgical issues.

The health service says it's working with the firm involved to ensure the maximum supply of feeds over the weekend.
