It’s estimated around 20 thousand bikes – worth a total of about 10 million euro – are stolen in Dublin alone every year.
Across the country, more than 5 thousand bikes are reported stolen to Gardaí ,but only around two percent of those lead to a conviction.

The Dublin Cycling Campaign says the number of bikes being taken has doubled since the Bike to Work Scheme was launched in 2009, and something must be done to stop it.
