The American wife and father-in-law of Irish man Jason Corbett are set to stand trial for his murder.

31 year old Molly Martens and her 65 year old father Thomas Martens, have each been charged with second degree murder and voluntary manslaughter.

Last night a grand jury in Davidson, North Carolina gave the go ahead for the trial.

The 39 year old Limerick man died after an alleged dispute at his home in North Carolina last August.

Following Jason Corbett's death, his two children from his first marriage were at the centre of a custody battle between Ms Martens and Mr Corbett's family.

The courts granted custody to Mr Corbett's sister and her husband and the children returned to Ireland.
