Coronavirus: 10 Further Deaths And 1,062 New Cases In Ireland

There have been 1,062 new cases of coronavirus confirmed in the Republic.

Ten further deaths have also been reported today.

Of today’s new cases, 335 were in Dublin, 137 in Cork, 73 in Wexford, 58 in Galway, 54 in Kildare and the remaining cases spread across all other counties.

As of this afternoon, there were 1,436 COVID-19 patients being treated in Irish hospitals - including 207 in ICU.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan said there has been a ‘significant improvement’ in incidence of the virus over the last few weeks.

However, he said he’s concerned the improvement appears to be ‘slowing down at much too high a level of infection’.

He said people need to take ‘real care’ in any situation in which they’re in contact with others - in particular workplaces and retail settings.
