There are now 10 seats left to be filled in the general election.

Fine Gael will be the biggest party in the next Dáil - but there are no easy steps to forming a new government.

There are just five constituencies still left to wrap up.

Fine Gael have so far claimed 47 seats, Fianna Fail 43, Sinn Fein 22, and Labour 6.

The AAA-PBP has 5 seats, the Social Democrats 3, the Greens have 2, and there are 20 independents.

The rest of the seats could take some days to fill - full recounts begin (or continue) this morning in Wexford, Dublin Bay North, Dublin South-West, Dublin South Central, and Longford Westmeath.

But the outcome - and the formation of the next government - will take longer.

It is now clear that a government will have to involve two of the three largest parties - and as they refuse to govern with each other, there is no easy path to power.
