The Central Remedial Clinic says money raised from its flag days and Santa Bear appeals does NOT go towards paying staff salaries.

This evening the CRC said money from its fundraising lottery had only been used to pay top-ups to senior staff under a deal reached with the HSE.

In a statement it said it's been working for four years to bring the salaries of its senior management within the HSE's limits.

But in nine cases staff had a contractual right to pay that exceeded that limit - so the CRC made up the difference between the contractual salary and the public pay cap by using money raised through the lottery run by its fundraising company, the Friends of the CRC.

It said the salary top-ups did NOT come from any of its flag days, the annual Santa Bear campaign, or any other public fundraising campaigh.

It also said 98% of the money raised from the public DOES go towards its services and capital investment - with just 1.1% of its pay bill covered by the public fundraising.
