Children from more advantaged families are more likely to participate in cultural activities, with girls even more likely than boys to do so.
Research from the Growing up in Ireland Study found that children who read and take part in activities like music, art and drama, do better at school.
The Arts Council says children should be offered cultural activities in Early Education and School, so that cost isnÂ’t preventing some children accessing them.
