Six men and a woman have had charges relating to the death of Dale Creighton upgraded to murder.

The 20 year old died after a serious assault at a footbridge on Saint Dominic's Road in Tallaght on New Year's Day.

Aisling Burke (20) of Bolbrook Grove, Graham Palmer (24) of Homelawn Road, Ross Callery (20) of Westpark, David Burke (25) of Village Square, in Tallaght, Jason Beresford (20), who was arrested in Finglas and Gerard Stephens (24) had all previously been charged with violent disorder.

James Reid (23) of Homelawn Avenue in Tallaght had been charged with production of a knife in the course of a dsipute.

A seventh man, James O' Brien (21) of Avonbeg Drive, Tallaght, was arrested in Wexford and also appeared before Tallaght District Court charged with assault causing harm to Dale Creighton. He was previously charged with violent disorder.

The court heard details of arrest, charge and caution from 8 members of An Garda Siochana.

They gave evidence that each of the eight accused made no reply when the charge was put to them at Tallaght and Rathfarnham garda stations this morning..

Judge Denis McLoughlin refused bail to James O'Brien after evidence was given that he had previously breached a condition to stay out of Tallaght.

The eight have been remanded to appear at Dublin District Court next Wednesday.
