A Dublin man has gone on trial accused of stabbing his wife’s son to death following a row over his bicycle.

David Mahon of Ongar Village in Clonsilla denies murdering 23-year-old Dean Fitzpatrick in May 2013 - the sister of Amy Fitzpatrick who went missing in Spain in 2008.

Dean was stabbed to death outside Mr. Mahon’s apartment in north Dublin.

The court heard the young father of one had a difficult relationship with Mr. Mahon.

It is the prosecution’s case that he followed him out of his flat and stabbed him in the stomach with a large kitchen knife.

The 46 year old denies this version of events and claims it was an accident.
