The image of 3 year old Aylan Kurdi is on the front page of almost every newspaper worldwide.
It's heaped pressure on Governments to do more to address the crisis.
Here at home - over the past 24 hours alone - more than 11 thousand people have signed a petition launched by campaign organisation Uplift.
It calls on the Government to offer refuge to thousands - not hundreds - of people seeking refuge in Europe.
Director of Uplift Siobhain O'Donoghue says there's been massive support for the petition:

A Day of Action is also being planned for this Saturday to show solidarity with those involved in the crisis.
People are being asked to gather at the Famine Memorial in Dublin City Centre at 1pm where a minutes's silence will be held.
Uplift is also looking for volunteers to lead gatherings at famine memorials around the country.
Anyone interested can contact paddy@uplift.ie for information.
