The death toll after a petrol tank explosion in Nigeria has reached 69.

Nigeria's Red Cross says the tanker exploded in a crowded bus station in the Southeast of the country, setting a dozen buses ablaze.

According to witnesses, firefighters took an hour to quench the flames.

It is believed the brakes failed on the tanker before it crashed into the busy station.
