A new recruitment campaign has been launched for the Permanent and Reserve Irish Defence Forces.
400 personnel are to be hired to the Permanent Defence Force, with up to 500 recruits for the Reserve Defence Force.
The Defence Minister Alan Shatter says the move will help to ensure the strength of the PDF is maintained at 9,500.
