A new support network has been set up for LGBT members of the Defence Forces.

The group is called "Defend with Pride", and the launch was attended by Defence Forces Chief of Staff Vice Admiral Mark Mellett.

The organisation offers support and guidance for LGBT personnel, and people who wish to support colleagues in the Defence Forces.

Speaking at the launch Vice Admiral Mellett said: "The provision and fostering of a diverse and inclusive workplace environment, reflective of Irish society is our Moral Duty and, for the Defence Forces, it means better decision making, better agility, better resilience."
