An investigation has been launched after two Ryanair planes were involved in a “minor” collision at the Dublin Airport this morning.

It involved two jets which were taxiing near the runway - when the wing of one 'clipped' the tail of the other.

Dublin Airport says normal service has since resumed - but Ryanair has apologised for any inconvenience caused.

Two planes have come into contact on the ground at Dublin Airport this morning.

It's understood two Ryanair planes 'clipped each other' in the incident on a taxiway in the airport - there are no reports of any injuries.

There are reports of delays at the airport as a result, although a spokesperson for the Dublin Airport Authority says the airport remains 'fully operational', and any disruption will be minor.

The Air Accident Investigation Unit is expected  launch an investigation.

Ryanair  issued the following statement :

Two of our aircraft were taxiing slowly to the runway at Dublin Airport this morning. The winglet of one aircraft appears to have scraped the tail of the other. Both aircraft were under the instruction of Dublin Airport Air Traffic Control at the time. There was no impact on customers on board and Ryanair contacted the IAA and worked with them to return both aircraft to stand. Affected customers disembarked, were provided with refreshment vouchers and boarded two replacement aircraft, which departed to Brussels Charleroi and Edinburgh later this morning. Ryanair apologises sincerely to customers for any inconvenience. Both aircraft are being repaired by Ryanair engineers and will be returned to service shortly.”
