Demand For Nearly-New EVs Soars By 268%

Demand for second-hand electric cars has increased by 268% in the year to January.

Figures from DoneDeal show demand soared last year, for premium nearly-new electric cars that are between one and four years old and worth over €30,000.

The car sales and listings website said supply issues with new EV models to Ireland mean consumers are now looking to instead by nearly-new electric vehicles (EVs).

A survey by DoneDeal also found those who drive an EV are happy with their switch to electric and plan to buy another EV for their next car purchase.

74% of EV drivers also reported their running costs are less than their previous petrol or diesel car.
