Police in Derry have arrested a 28 year old man on suspicion of human trafficking.

The arrest came after a 26 year old Eastern European woman contacted police last night to make rape and assault allegations.

She is now receiving treatment, and is also being assessed as a potential victim of a human trafficking operation.

The PSNI has conducted a search of a property in the city as part of the investigation.
