Gardai in Dublin are appealing for witnesses after a known dissident republican was fatally shot in a residental area of Finglas in north Dublin on Monday.

The man has been named locally as Vincent Ryan. He was known to Gardai and was a brother of slain Real IRA figure Alan Ryan.

He lost his fight for life in the Mater hospital after being shot a number of times while waiting in a car on McKee Road.
