A man is recovering in hospital after his dog accidentally shot him with a rifle.

Richard Fipps was taking snow chains off his truck in Wyoming when his dog stood on a loaded rifle in the back of his pickup truck.

Police say the rifle was in the bed of the truck with the safety off and the dog hopped up there or stepped on it and set off the gun.

The dog accidentally shot Richard in the arm.

Big Horn Mountain Radio reported that he was rushed to hospital, but his condition is not thought to be life threatening.
