Dogs Trust Received 235 Requests From People Looking To Return Pets

DogsTrust received 235 requests from people looking to return a pet after Christmas, 185 calls and 50 emails.

It's a 36% reduction in people asking to hand a dog back.

The charity says it received an average of 6 requests to surrender a dog every day in the month following Christmas.

The most common reason given was that ‘the dog was exhibiting unwanted behaviour’

In one case in January a heavily pregnant Lurcher ‘Banana’ was brought to the Charity just in time to give birth to nine puppies.

Meanwhile, the charity has made the decision to close their Dublin Rehoming Centre to the general public until further notice due to the coronavirus outbreak.

If you are interested in adopting a dog from Dogs Trust, the Charity is advising people to email their Rehoming Team, rather than coming to the centre,
