The HSE has confirmed a Donegal man at the centre of an Ebola scare, died not die as a result of the virus.

Dessie Quinn, a father of one in his early forties, became ill on his return from Sierra Leone.

In a statement, the HSE says lab tests from Dessie Quinn have proved negative for the ebola virus.

He was found dead at his home in Mountcharles yesterday, after being treated for malaria.

Infection control procedures, which had been put in place as a precautionary measure, will now be stepped down.

Dessie Quinn's cause of death has not yet been confirmed.

The HSE has expressed its condolences to the his family and friends.

More than 13 hundred and 50 people have died from the ebola virus in an outbreak affecting a number of countries in West Africa.
