The number of people caught attempting to sell or supply drugs in Dublin city has trebled in the first eight months of the year.
Gardaí arrested 567 people for the crime between January and August of this year, a massive 208 per cent increase from the 184 who were caught during the same period in 2013.
The number caught for simple possession also trebled, from 273 to 561 people during the past eight months
Both activities have led to business groups coming together to lobby the Government to increase garda presence in Dublin.
