The former chief executive of Anglo Irish bank David Drumm is to appear before a court in Boston later today.

It's the first step in efforts to extradite him to Ireland.

Mr Drumm was arrested at his home in Massachusetts last week.

The authorities here are seeking his extradition to face charges relating to his time at Anglo Irish Bank.

Mr Drumm left the country in 2009 and filed for bankruptcy in the US in 2010.

He's since refused to appear in person at the banking enquiry.
