The friend and advisor to former Taoiseach Brian Cowen says if he wanted to lobby him it wouldn't have been on a golf course in July 2008.
Fintan Drury - who is also a former non-executive director of Anglo Irish Bank - is before the banking inquiry about meetings he organised between the bank and Mr Cowen.
He says a dinner in April 2008 with the Anglo board was "completely unremarkable" and that the golf game and dinner that summer was about getting perspectives about the economy in general and not banking.
