DUP and SF on course to retain seat numbers in NI Assembly

Counting has resumed in the Northern Ireland Assembly Election, with the DUP's Arlene Foster on course to return as First Minister.

It is predicted the main parties could end up with the same number of Assembly members as before Thursday's vote.

The moderate parties the SDLP and the UUP failed to make major gains, while anti austerity party People Before Profit won assembly seats in Foyle and Belfast.

Arlene Foster says voters connected with the DUP's manifesto:

 

Meanwhile, Sadiq Khan has been elected the new Mayor of London.

The Labour candidate is the city's first Muslim mayor.

Mr Khan has promised to be a "Mayor for All Londoners".

He took 57% of the vote, beating Tory rival Zac Goldsmith into second place.

He succeeds Conservative Boris Johnson, who had held the post since 2008.
