€10 Billion Bumper Budget To Fight Rising Cost Of Living

The government is set to announce a bumper budget package worth more than €10 billion as it tries to battle the soaring cost of living.

Parents of young children will see cuts of up to 25% on childcare costs due to come into effect from next year.

Primary school children are also due to be given free textbooks from next September.

Renters are also due to get a €500 tax credit this year and next year.

While all households are expected to receive €600 of energy credits in the coming months to help with the rising cost of gas and electricity.

Students will see €1,000 reduction on third level fees and a double payment of the SUSI student grant.

Cheaper public transport fees are also due to be extended.

The Ministers for Finance and Public Expenditure are due to reveal the full details in the Dáil from 1 o'clock this afternoon.
