You could've saved over €900 in 2021 by switching your gas and electricity supplier.
Research from the Commission for Regulation of Utilities found customers could have saved an average of €581 by switching their electricity provider in 2021, and €316 on gas.
Almost half a million energy customers did switch last year, up 15% from 2020.
Darragh Cassidy from the price comparison website, bonkers.ie, says big savings can be made, particularly at times of extreme inflation:
"Discounts of 10% are still available, sometimes a little bit more.
"And even though they have come down in recent weeks, cause energy prices are at such high levels, that 10% discount still equates to a saving of several hundred euro.
"Which I think will be very, very much welcomed by those people who do the switch."
