The Green Party leader feels the Taoiseach's comments on climate change over the weekend were "bizarre".

Leo Varadkar had said there were some positives to climate change, such as having warmer winter days, lower heating bills and fewer homeless deaths.

Since making the comments, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has been criticised for failing to understand the scale of the issue.

His words have sparked a protest which is taking place outside the Dail this afternoon:

The Green Party leader was among those who has hit out at Leo Varadkar's comments.

Eamon Ryan said "I thought they were bizarre because I don't think there's an upside to climate change.

I think if you start presenting it that way it can undermine the public effort and spirit that we're going to have to actually address this.

Yes, in Ireland some days in winter may be warmer, but if you think of this as a global problem, there are hundreds of millions of people whose lives are threatened."
