Efforts to avert a planned 2 day bus strike are underway at the Labour Relations Commission.
Union's and management at Dublin Bus and Bus Eireann are attending exploratory talks this afternoon.
Drivers are planning 2 days of strike action in a row over privatisation of a number of routes.
These people are among the 1 million passengers who will be forced to make alternative travel plans if the action is not called off
Meanwhile Gardai have moved to remind drivers they may not use the bus lanes tomorrow if the strike action goes ahead.
Gardai say it is important to note that bus lanes facilitate taxis, cyclist, private bus companies and the Emergency Services.
They are advising motorists to allow extra time when planning their journey during the planned action.
