The Independent Alliance says the public is getting frustrated with how long it's taking to form a government.

Enda Kenny says the offer for Fianna Fail and independent TDs to enter into a Partnership Government with his party, is still on the table.

Last night, the caretaker Taoiseach once again appealed to Micheal Martin to take part in negotiations and called for an end to Civil War politics.

On Thursday, the leaders of the two biggest parties held a brief meeting, before Fianna Fail resolutely rejected Fine Gael's proposition.

But last night Mr Kenny reiterated his belief that a Partnership Government is the most stable option for the future:

Meanwhile the Independent Alliance has extended an invitation to both Fine Gael and Fianna Fail to discuss the reality of a minority government.

Independent Alliance TD, Sean Canney, says it's essential that they get in a room together to talk about how such a government could work:

The Dail is due to meet again this Thursday when nominations and a vote for Taoiseach will take place.
